BISHOP LESTER M. COX J.P
Bishop Lester M. Cox is the son of Reverend Carlos and Corrine Cox and was born and raised in Nassau Bahamas.
In 1987 he graduated from The University of Tennessee (Chattanooga) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish and International Relations and worked in International Private Banking for 12 years. In 1988 he married his college sweetheart First Lady Vanessa and they resided in her home island of Bermuda for a few years. It was here that Bishop Cox became actively involved in Ministry under the guidance of his mentor and spiritual father Dr. Goodwin C. Smith.
In 1991 Bishop Cox and his family moved from Bermuda to The Bahamas where he continued in International Banking with institutions such as Coutts and Co., Lloyds Bank International and Chase Manhattan Trust. In 1999 Bishop Cox resigned from International Banking after accepting God’s call and went into full time ministry at the local church where he grew up. In January 2001 he became the Senior Pastor where he stayed for 6 years. He was consecrated to the office of Bishop in May 2002. He is also a Licensed Marriage Officer and a Justice of the Peace for The Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
Bishop Cox has served on various Boards including, Teen Challenge Bahamas, Bahamas Prison Services, Bahamas Financial Compliance, Chairman, Bahamas Water & Sewerage Corporation and Cable Bahamas Limited to name a few. He has also been privileged to have television broadcasts aired on Cable 12 Bahamas, ZNS TV13 Bahamas, MTM TV, Jamaica and The Word Network.
Bishop Cox and his wife First Lady Vanessa being led of God felt that it was time to spread their wings outside of denominational confines and on March 4th 2007 they founded Word of Truth Ministries International. Along with their two children L. Matthew and Hilary, the first service had some 120 persons in attendance in The Dundas Performing Arts Center Building, Mackey Street, Nassau Bahamas.
Bishop Cox has traveled extensively to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ to such places as India, The Caribbean, The United States of America and South America.
It is his desire to cause people whose lives are broken and battered to walk in wholeness and completeness through The Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.
FIRST LADY VANESSA COX
First Lady Vanessa Cox was born and raised in Bermuda where she was active in the New Testament Church of God Fellowship.
In 1988 she graduated from The University of Tennessee (Chattanooga) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Later that same year on December 3rd, she married Bishop Cox and they returned to Bermuda to live for a few years.
After moving to the Bahamas in 1992, her husband’s homeland, she continued in the Nursing profession until 2001 when she joined Bishop Cox in full time ministry.
First Lady Vanessa is a gifted woman of faith and has a strong spirit.
Together with Bishop Cox, they have been blessed with two children L. Matthew and Hilary Amanda.
Her passion is for her Lord and her children but she also enjoys knitting and making floral arrangements for which she has formally studied to better herself.
First Lady Vanessa assists her husband in Ministry with fortitude and a spirit of wisdom.
